The top end of the bike was rebuilt +/- 14000 miles before it croaked. One exhaust valve seems sticky, doesn't look like it moves as easily as the other one. Can't tell on the spark timing issue, the repair manual is a joke (Clymer, would else can you expect). The carbs were running very rich, so some carbon in the ports and pipes. op of pipes burnt to a very rusty condition, at the head, and not beyond the collars, plus no leaks. As for cutting it in half, we also have a dead 71 CL100 road bike, how about big and little mailbox holders instead of signs? If neither Honda can be risen from the dead, I'll have to do something with them. I don't sell old metrics, they tend not to be worth my time as far as paperwork, physical work and money are concerned. When my last Jap bike dies, that's it. The dealers, mechanics, factory, and metric aftermarket only seem to care about their wallets, not the bike or the rider. Yes, HD is bad too, especially the factory authorized shops, but at least the smaler shops are run by people who ride, wrench, and appreciate what the lifestyle is all about.
Any ideas on how to check the spark advance? If I need a new regulator/rectifier, like the Suzuki GS series and older CB/GL Hondas, I'll tell you where to meet us and pick the bike up. Am within a couple hundred bucks of the initial purchase price already, am getting tired of throwing good money after bad.
